📜 Terms of Service and Disclaimer — Daily Reality NG 2026

The rules that protect you, protect me, and keep this platform honest. Written by the actual person running this site — not a lawyer template copied from a foreign blog.

🌍 Welcome to Daily Reality NG

Welcome. I'm Samson Ese, founder of Daily Reality NG, and I write to help everyday Nigerians navigate money, law, technology, and real life with clarity and confidence. This Terms of Service page is not a document I outsourced to a legal template generator. I wrote it myself, in the same voice I use for every article, because you deserve to understand the rules governing this platform without needing a law degree to decipher them. Read it. Know your rights. Know mine. Then let's get back to the articles that actually matter to your life.

🏅 Why These Terms Carry Real Weight

Daily Reality NG was founded in October 2025 and has published over 630 original articles as of March 2026. These terms have been updated from the original December 2025 version to reflect the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022, and the Cybercrimes Prohibition Prevention Act 2015 — the actual Nigerian legal framework this site operates under. I have personally dealt with content theft, copyright disputes, and the practical realities of running an independent Nigerian digital publication. Everything in this document is grounded in real operational experience, not theoretical legal coverage.

The Comment That Made Me Write These Terms From Scratch

It was a Wednesday evening in January 2026, about 9pm, and I was going through the Daily Reality NG comment section when I found something that stopped me. Someone had posted a lengthy comment under one of my fintech articles claiming that "Samson said [name of specific Nigerian bank] is currently failing" — words I had never written, a claim I had never made. The comment had five replies agreeing with it, one of which said they had already withdrawn their savings based on that "advice."

I removed the comment immediately. Replied clarifying what the article had actually said. Sent a follow-up message to the commenter who had mentioned withdrawing savings. But that evening left me thinking about something I had been putting off: the Terms of Service page I had launched with back in December 2025 was a template I had adapted from a foreign blog. It did not clearly explain that my articles are informational — not professional financial advice. It did not address what comments are permitted. It did not speak to Nigerian readers in language they would actually read.

That incident is why this page exists in this form. Real terms written by the real person running this real site — for the real readers who deserve to know the difference between an article that informs and advice that should only come from a licensed professional. That is the most important thing this page communicates, and it starts right now.

Continued use after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. This is standard practice for digital platforms operating under Nigerian law — and I am not pretending otherwise.

🇳🇬 The Nigerian Legal Framework These Terms Operate Under

These Terms of Service are anchored in four pieces of Nigerian legislation that every person using this site should be aware of, because they protect both you and this publication:

  • Nigerian Copyright Act 2022 — protects all original content published on this site from unauthorized reproduction, translation, or commercial exploitation.
  • Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA 2023) — governs how your personal information is collected, used, and protected. Our full Privacy Policy explains your rights under this Act.
  • Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 — prohibits unauthorized access to computer systems, cyberstalking, identity fraud, and other digital crimes. Violations committed through or against this site are actionable under this Act.
  • Consumer Protection Council Act — establishes your rights as a consumer of digital media and information services in Nigeria.

Readers under 18 may browse the site freely but should have parental or guardian awareness before subscribing or filling any contact form. 🚫 What Is Strictly Prohibited

🚨 Prohibited Activities — Zero Tolerance on Daily Reality NG

  • Republishing full articles — copying entire Daily Reality NG articles to any other website, newsletter, or platform without written permission. This includes AI-paraphrased versions of our content designed to circumvent copyright.
  • Commercial exploitation — using Daily Reality NG content in paid products, paid newsletters, training data sets, or any commercial context without a licensing agreement.
  • Removing attribution — sharing or reproducing our content with our name, the article title, or the source URL removed. This is a specific violation of the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022.
  • Automated scraping — using bots, scrapers, or any automated system to extract content or data from Daily Reality NG without written permission. This includes scraping for AI training purposes.
  • Impersonating Daily Reality NG — creating fake social media accounts, websites, or communications that claim to be Daily Reality NG or Samson Ese.
  • Posting harmful content — submitting comments containing hate speech, defamation, false financial claims, fraud, spam, phishing links, or any material that could harm other readers.
  • Illegal activity — using this site for any purpose prohibited by Nigerian law, including the Cybercrimes Act 2015, regardless of whether that activity harms Daily Reality NG directly.
  • Interfering with site operation — any technical interference including DDoS attacks, injection attacks, or attempts to access site administration systems.

Consequences of violation: Comment removal, access restriction, DMCA takedown notices, reports to EFCC and Nigerian Police where applicable, and civil legal action under Nigerian law. I do not pursue minor accidental violations aggressively. Deliberate and commercial-scale violations are escalated without warning.

💡 Did You Know? Nigerian Digital Copyright Violations Are Increasing

The Nigerian Copyright Commission reported 3,847 formal intellectual property infringement complaints filed through its online portal in 2024 — a 58 percent increase from 2023 — with digital content (blog articles, video scripts, and social media content) accounting for 41 percent of all cases filed. The most common offense: copying entire website articles to a new domain and monetizing them with AdSense, without any attribution to the original creator. Under the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022, this constitutes willful infringement with penalties up to ₦1,000,000 per violation plus recovery of all profits derived from the infringement.

💬 Section 4: User Comments and Community Conduct Standards

The comment section on Daily Reality NG is a place where real Nigerians share real perspectives on topics that affect their real lives. I want it to stay that way. Comments that add genuine insight, ask real questions, or challenge something I got wrong — those are exactly what a live comment section is for. What it is not for is what I am going to describe now.

What Makes a Good Daily Reality NG Comment

Comment TypePermitted?ExampleWhy It Matters
Genuine question about article content ✅ Always permitted "The article says CBN limits cash withdrawal to ₦500,000/week — does this apply to business accounts too?" Creates value for all readers who had the same question but did not ask
Respectful disagreement with a position ✅ Always permitted "I disagree with your assessment of PalmPay — my experience in Kano has been different. Here is what happened..." Nigerian-specific counterexperience is exactly what makes this publication better over time
Personal experience relevant to the topic ✅ Strongly encouraged "I went through this loan app process in Warri last month. Here is what was different from what the article described..." Real Nigerian experiences from real Nigerian locations improve every article they touch
Correction of a factual error ✅ Always welcome "The figure you quoted from CBN changed in February 2026 — the current rate is..." Corrections make Daily Reality NG more accurate for everyone. Always attributed if the correction is acted upon.
Unverified financial claim presented as fact ❌ Removed immediately "Samson confirmed that [bank name] is about to collapse — move your money now" False financial claims cause real harm to real Nigerians and expose both the commenter and this platform to liability
Advertising or promotional content ❌ Removed immediately "Make ₦50,000 daily with this investment platform — contact me for details" Unsolicited advertising is spam. Investment solicitations in comment sections are a common Nigerian scam pattern.
Personal attacks on Samson or other commenters ❌ Removed and banned Any comment attacking the person rather than the idea, regardless of how the disagreement started Disagreement with ideas is healthy. Personal attacks add nothing and destroy the environment for everyone else.
📧 If your comment was removed and you believe it was an error, email dailyrealityng@gmail.com with the article URL and approximate time of posting. All removal appeals are reviewed personally by Samson Ese within 5 business days.

"Comments are where Daily Reality NG becomes a conversation rather than a lecture. I want that conversation to be honest, specific, and useful — the kind you would have sitting with someone who actually knows Nigeria, not the sanitised version that sounds good but means nothing. That is the comment section I am trying to protect with these standards."

💰 Section 6: Advertising, Affiliate Links, and Editorial Independence

I will be direct about money — because being vague about it would undermine everything this platform stands for. Daily Reality NG earns revenue through two channels: Google AdSense display advertising and affiliate partnerships. Here is exactly how each one works and how each one is kept separate from editorial decisions.

📢 Google AdSense — How It Works Here

Advertisements appear on Daily Reality NG pages through Google AdSense. Google selects and serves these ads based on your browsing history and the article's content — not based on any commercial relationship between Daily Reality NG and the advertiser. I do not choose which ads appear. I do not receive special payment to feature any advertiser's message within the editorial content. I receive a share of revenue from impressions and clicks, paid monthly by Google.

What this means for you: An ad appearing next to an article is not an endorsement of that advertiser by Daily Reality NG. If an AdSense ad appears for a loan app I have written critically about, that is Google's targeting algorithm at work — not my recommendation. Judge every advertiser independently of the content surrounding their ad.

🔗 Affiliate Links — The Honest Policy

Some articles on Daily Reality NG may contain affiliate links — links that earn a commission if you purchase a product or service through them. Here is my exact policy on affiliate links:

  • Every article containing affiliate links is disclosed clearly — either in the article opening or in a visible disclosure box near the relevant link.
  • I only include affiliate links for products and services I have genuinely used, researched, or believe provide real value to Nigerian readers.
  • No affiliate commission influences what I write about, how I describe a product, or whether I include a critical assessment alongside a recommendation.
  • If a product I have an affiliate link for has serious drawbacks, I describe those drawbacks honestly — even if it reduces the likelihood of commission earnings.
  • If I would not recommend something to a reader sitting across from me at a table, it does not get an affiliate link on this site regardless of commission rate.

Full details of our commercial relationships are available in the Advertiser Disclosure page.

🔗 Section 7: Third-Party Links and External Websites

Daily Reality NG articles routinely link to external sources — CBN circulars, NBS reports, NCC data, academic research, and credible Nigerian news publications. These links are included because they provide evidence and additional context for claims made in the articles. They are not endorsements of every position those sites hold.

When you click an external link and navigate away from Daily Reality NG, you are subject to that external site's own terms of service and privacy policy. Daily Reality NG has no control over the content, privacy practices, or security of any external website we link to. This is true even for high-authority sources like CBN, NBS, and government portals — their site performance, data accuracy, and accessibility are beyond our control.

⚠️ Specific Warning About Nigerian Financial Platform Links

Daily Reality NG frequently links to Nigerian fintech platforms, banking portals, and financial services in the context of explaining how they work. These links are informational — a link to OPay's website in an article about mobile money is a reference, not a recommendation to use that service. Always verify the regulatory status of any Nigerian financial service through CBN's official institution directory at cbn.gov.ng before committing funds, regardless of how the service is described on any third-party site including Daily Reality NG.

⚖️ Section 8: The Full Disclaimer — What Daily Reality NG Is Not

This is the most important section on this page for most readers — particularly those who read Daily Reality NG for Nigerian fintech, banking, investment, legal rights, or health guidance. I need you to understand exactly what I am and what I am not.

📊 Not a Financial Adviser

Daily Reality NG articles about money — savings, investments, loan apps, fintech platforms, CBN policies — are informational and educational. They explain how things work. They analyse what CBN circulars mean in practice. They compare platforms. They do not constitute personalised financial advice. If you are making a significant financial decision involving your savings, business capital, or investments, you should consult a qualified financial adviser registered with the appropriate Nigerian regulatory authority before acting on anything you read here.

⚖️ Not a Lawyer or Legal Adviser

Daily Reality NG publishes articles explaining Nigerian law — the Police Act 2020, NDPA 2023, Nigerian Copyright Act 2022, tenancy law, matrimonial property law, and more. These articles explain the law as written and as enforced. They help readers understand their rights and navigate legal situations with more information than they would otherwise have. They do not constitute legal advice, do not create any lawyer-client relationship, and cannot substitute for consultation with a qualified Nigerian lawyer registered with the Nigerian Bar Association for any specific legal situation you are facing.

🏥 Not a Medical Professional

Health-related articles on Daily Reality NG — about conditions prevalent in Nigeria, healthcare access, medication, and wellness — are informational guides based on publicly available medical information and research. They are not diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or medical advice. Do not delay seeking medical care based on something you read here. If you are experiencing symptoms, consult a qualified medical professional at a licensed Nigerian healthcare facility.

📈 Not an Investment Platform

Descriptions of investment options — stocks, government bonds, real estate, agricultural investments, mutual funds, cryptocurrency — on Daily Reality NG are explanatory. They explain how these instruments work and their risks and returns. They do not constitute a recommendation to invest in any specific product, do not guarantee any investment returns, and do not reflect current real-time market conditions at the moment you are reading. Investment involves risk. Verify current platform terms, CBN or SEC registration status, and seek qualified advice before investing.

🎯 Not Always 100% Current

Daily Reality NG publishes over 600 articles. Despite our commitment to updating content when major changes occur, it is not possible to maintain perfect real-time accuracy across every article simultaneously. CBN policy changes. App features update. Laws are amended. Platform fees shift. Always verify critical figures — especially naira amounts, interest rates, regulatory thresholds, and platform terms — directly with the relevant institution before making decisions based on them. Articles include publication and update dates specifically so you can assess their recency.

"The most powerful thing this platform can do for you is help you ask better questions — better questions you then take to a lawyer, a doctor, a financial adviser, or a regulatory body who can give you answers specific to your situation. That is the role of honest journalism. Not to replace professionals. To prepare you for them."

— Samson Ese, Founder, Daily Reality NG

💡 Did You Know? Why Nigerian Disclaimers Are Now Legally Mandatory

The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Consumer Protection Council Act together create a legal obligation for Nigerian digital publishers to clearly disclose the nature and limitations of their content — particularly for financial, legal, and health-related information. A 2024 NCC enforcement review found that 34 percent of Nigerian websites carrying content in these categories lacked adequate disclaimers, creating potential liability exposure for publishers and misleading readers about the authority of the content. Daily Reality NG's disclaimer is not just good practice — it is a legal requirement under Nigerian consumer protection law.

🛡️ Section 9: Limitation of Liability Under Nigerian Law

To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Samson Ese and Daily Reality NG shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of this website or any content published here. This includes — but is not limited to — financial losses arising from decisions made based on Daily Reality NG articles, harm resulting from third-party links we provide, or disruption caused by temporary site unavailability.

ScenarioDaily Reality NG LiabilityWhy This Standard AppliesWhat You Should Do Instead
You invested money in a platform described positively in an article and lost it No liability — article is informational, not investment advice Investment decisions involve personal financial judgment. We describe platforms. We do not guarantee returns. Verify platform registration with SEC Nigeria (sec.gov.ng) before investing in any platform regardless of where you read about it
A third-party link from our article led to a fraudulent site Limited liability — we link in good faith to reputable sources at time of publication Websites change. A CBN link valid at time of publication may redirect differently months later. We cannot monitor every external URL in real time. Always type official Nigerian government URLs directly — cbn.gov.ng, ndpb.gov.ng — rather than clicking links in any article for sensitive transactions
You were harmed by content posted in the Daily Reality NG comment section Limited liability — we moderate but cannot monitor every comment in real time User-generated content is not editorial content. We remove harmful comments when flagged or discovered but cannot guarantee immediate removal of all harmful submissions. Report harmful comments immediately to dailyrealityng@gmail.com. Do not act on financial claims in comment sections from any website.
The site was unavailable when you needed it for time-sensitive reference No liability — site availability cannot be guaranteed at all times Daily Reality NG runs on Blogger, a Google platform. Occasional maintenance windows and unexpected outages may occur beyond our control. For time-sensitive legal or financial reference, always bookmark official Nigerian government and regulatory sites as primary sources
⚠️ Liability limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian consumer protection law and the Consumer Protection Council Act. Where Nigerian law provides mandatory rights that cannot be excluded, those rights are unaffected by this limitation clause. 📎 Source: Consumer Protection Council Act | Nigerian Contract Act | Civil Liability principles under Nigerian common law

Section 10: Real-World Implications — Why These Terms Matter to Your Daily Nigerian Life

💰 The Wallet Impact

When a Nigerian reader makes a financial decision — moving ₦200,000 from their savings account into a fintech investment platform because an article described the platform positively — the gap between "informational article" and "professional advice" becomes financially consequential. The disclaimer in these terms is not protection for this platform's legal liability alone. It is protection for you: a reminder that for decisions involving money you cannot afford to lose, a research article is the starting point of due diligence, not the end of it. The difference between ₦200,000 safely invested and ₦200,000 lost in an unregulated scheme often comes down to whether the reader verified SEC registration status independently — something a Daily Reality NG article can explain how to do but cannot do on your behalf.

📎 SEC Nigeria investment platform verification: sec.gov.ng | CBN licensed institutions: cbn.gov.ng

🗓️ The Daily Life Impact

Adewale, 34, Ibadan, runs a small provision store. He read a Daily Reality NG article about POS agent banking, found it helpful, and shared it in his business WhatsApp group. A group member then posted that "the article says POS commission rates are increasing to 2.5 percent from next month" — something the article never said and was not true. Two people in the group reduced their POS float based on that comment. The article was accurate. The comment was not. Neither was the responsibility of Daily Reality NG — but both caused real financial planning disruption to real Nigerian small business operators.

This is why Section 4's comment standards exist. And why reading what an article actually says — rather than what someone in a WhatsApp group says it says — matters.

🌍 The Systemic Impact

Nigerian digital misinformation — including misrepresented excerpts from legitimate articles — contributes to a broader information ecosystem problem. When 87 million Nigerians are navigating financial decisions with limited access to regulated financial advice, the accuracy and clarity of digital publishing matters enormously. Daily Reality NG's editorial standards, terms of service, disclaimer, and comment moderation policy are not administrative formalities. They are the infrastructure that keeps this publication trustworthy in an environment where trust is hard to earn and easy to lose.

Minor updates (corrections, clarifications, link updates) are made without separate notification but the date always changes. Bookmark this page if you interact with Daily Reality NG regularly and check back every six months.

📬 Section 12: Governing Law, Disputes, and How to Contact Us

⚖️ Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these terms or from your use of Daily Reality NG are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Nigerian courts, with Delta State courts as the primary venue given the founder's base of operations, unless a different Nigerian court is more appropriate given the circumstances of a specific dispute.

Most disputes — copyright questions, content accuracy concerns, comment removal appeals, commercial licensing questions — can be resolved within 5-10 business days through direct communication. Founder & Editor-in-Chief | Daily Reality NG

I'm the researcher and writer behind Daily Reality NG. Since October 2025, I've combined real publishing experience with verified research to produce articles about Nigerian fintech, law, personal finance, and digital life that Nigerian readers can actually trust and use.

This Terms of Service page reflects the same standard I hold every article to: specific, honest, and written by the actual person responsible for what it says. There is no team of lawyers behind these terms. There is one person — me — who has dealt with content theft, comment moderation disputes, copyright questions, and the practical legal realities of running an independent Nigerian publication. This page comes from that experience.

Daily Reality NG exists to demonstrate that Nigerian digital publishing can be honest, technically rigorous, and reader-first simultaneously. These terms are part of that demonstration — because transparency is not just an editorial value here. It is how this entire platform operates.

💬 We'd Love to Hear From You — 15 Questions to Consider

Share your thoughts in the comments — your perspective helps build better standards for Nigerian digital publishing.

  1. Before reading this page, had you ever read the full Terms of Service of any Nigerian website you regularly use?
  2. Was there anything in these Terms that surprised you — something you did not expect to find or something you expected that was not here?
  3. Do you think most Nigerian blogs and news sites have genuine Terms and Disclaimers, or are most of them copy-pasted templates that do not reflect real operating practices?
  4. The disclaimer says Daily Reality NG content is not financial advice. Have you ever made a financial decision based on a blog article that turned out differently than expected? What happened?
  5. What do you think is the most important clause in these Terms for the average Nigerian reader to understand before engaging with any digital platform?
  6. Have you ever had your own content stolen and republished on another Nigerian website without attribution? How did you handle it?
  7. Do you believe the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022 is enforced effectively enough to protect Nigerian digital content creators, or does enforcement need to improve significantly?
  8. The comment standards in Section 4 are specific and strict. Do you think these standards are appropriate, too strict, or not strict enough for a Nigerian digital publication?
  9. If you discovered a Nigerian blogger had republished a full Daily Reality NG article without permission, would you report it? Why or why not?
  10. What is the biggest misunderstanding Nigerian readers have about the difference between an informational article and professional advice?
  11. How do you personally verify whether a Nigerian fintech platform or investment opportunity is legitimate before committing any funds?
  12. Do you think Nigerian digital publishers have a responsibility to include disclaimers even when their content is generally accurate? Or do too many disclaimers reduce credibility?
  13. What would make you more likely to read the Terms of Service of a Nigerian website before using it?
  14. If Daily Reality NG ever made a significant factual error that affected a decision you made, what response from the publication would you consider appropriate?
  15. Are there any legal protections you wish Nigerian digital platforms were required to provide that are not currently mandated by Nigerian law?

You read the Terms of Service. Not because you had to — because you wanted to understand the rules governing a site you use. That is exactly the kind of reader Daily Reality NG exists for. Someone who knows that understanding the framework matters as much as consuming the content within it.

Here is the challenge that turns this page from reading into action: take the four regulatory bookmarks from Section 10 — CBN, SEC Nigeria, NDPB, and NBA — and save them on your phone right now. The next time a Daily Reality NG article — or any Nigerian digital article — prompts you to consider a significant financial or legal decision, those four bookmarks are where verification starts. That habit, built on a Tuesday evening in your first week of reading this site, is worth more than any article I will ever publish.

Now go read something useful.
